Dr. Ed Abramson is a licensed clinical psychologist, a Professor Emeritus of Psychology at California State University, an expert witness in legal matters, and former Director of the Eating Disorders Center at Chico Community Hospital. He is the author of six books including the newly published, Weight, Diet and Body Image: What Every Therapist Needs to Know. His earlier bestseller, Emotional Eating: What You Need to Know Before Starting Another Diet was a Book-of-the-Month Club selection and has been translated into five languages while Body Intelligence was a finalist for the Books for a Better Life Award. He writes a blog, It’s NOT Just Baby Fat! for Psychology Today Magazine.
Dr. Abramson is an Instructor at the University of California Berkeley Extension. He gives talks and workshops throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Israel. Participants enjoy his ability to present complex material in an easy to understand manner illustrated with practical clinical examples and a lively sense of humor.
Dr. Abramson is a Fellow of The Obesity Society and author of more than 20 scholarly and scientific research publications. He served on the Board of Directors of The California Psychological Association and was a Visiting Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at the United Medical and Dental Schools, University of London, UK.
As a seasoned media expert, Dr. Abramson has appeared on dozens of radio and TV programs including 20/20 and Joan Rivers. For several years he was producer and host of Psychology and You on KHSL-TV (CBS) in Chico, CA. He’s been interviewed for articles in publications ranging from The New York Times and Washington Post to Weekly and Cosmopolitan.
