What is the I & R?
When consumers find appropriate therapeutic placements and highly trained clinicians, there is a greater chance of their having successful treatment experiences. The goal of the I & R is to help navigate people through the mental health system to find the local psychologists or mental health settings that best meet their needs.
Who is on the I & R network?
The professionals who comprise our network are all doctoral level psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D.). They are currently licensed in California and monitored by the Board of Psychology, which maintains very high standards for education and training, legal and ethical conduct, and continuing education.
What is a psychologist?
Licensed clinical psychologists receive four or more years of graduate education in Psychology, write a dissertation, and do years of supervised clinical training in the treatment of mental disorders. Their internships, fellowships and continuing education lead to different areas of specialization within the field.
How does the FIND A PSYCHOLOGIST search engine work?
You can click on our Find A Psychologist link, and then enter your personal and clinical criteria. The search engine will find the psychologists on our network that match your needs. You can then read about their practices and see their pictures online to decide who might be best for you.
You can also access our network directory link below and click on specific doctors' names to see their practice information. Learning about the variety of services and specializations the
psychologists in our network offer might also help you clarify your needs.
How does the phone system work?
The psychologists on our network are available to answer your questions and find psychological services that extend beyond the private practice setting. By calling the I&R phone number, (925) 939-9024, you can access our voice-mail system and leave a confidential message with your inquiry. The on-call psychologist picks up your message and calls you back within 24 business hours.
Whom does the I & R serve?
Individuals, as well as clinicians and agencies are all welcome to utilize the I&R when looking for referral assistance. The American Psychological Association and the California Psychological Association direct consumers who are looking for psychologists to their local I&R chapters. Many people find our advertisement under "Psychological Services" in the Yellow Pages. This directs them to both our phone line and online services.
If you are a member of CCPA and wish to participate in our professional network, please refer to the Participating in the Professional Network page for more information.
